3 Vehicle Accident in Alexandria Tuesday

A 3 Vehicle Accident in Alexandria Tuesday morning caused a traffic tie up in Alexandria.

L. Clayton BurgessThe accident happened just after 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Texas Avenue and Masonic Drive.

One of the drivers told Alexandria Police that she ran a red light and struck another vehicle going south bound on Texas Avenue. That caused the other vehicle to then strike a third vehicle that was stopped at the red light at the intersection.

The driver of the first vehicle was charged with running a red light and no proof of insurance. No injuries were reported in the accident.

Convicted killer who released from jail on accident

Iberville Parish deputies are asking for help locating a convicted killer who they say was accidentally released from prison.  32-year-old Benjuiel Johnson was released on September 23rd from Dixon Correctional Institute, but no one noticed the error until September 28th.

Deputies tell us they were told the state’s system showed Johnson was scheduled to be released on good behavior for other charges he was facing, but his manslaughter conviction did not appear when they ran his name.

Les Miles gives cancer-stricken teen “best day of his life”

LSU Coach Les Miles made good on his invitation issued months ago to a Mountain Brook, AL teen battling cancer. Mountain Brook teenager Sid Ortis has been dealing with osteosarcoma, or bone cancer, for the past year. Last March the 16-year-old had surgery to attempt to remove the cancer from his lungs. Around that time he received a phone call from LSU coach Les Miles, his favorite coach from his favorite team. Miles, telling him, “Life is not how long you live, but how well you live it.” He spoke at length with the 16-year-old, and then prayed with him.

KALB – Alexandria, Louisiana – One Alexandria family woke up to a loud crash outside their house. A vehicle wrecked into their home in the early hours of Saturday morning. It would be an unusual experience for most of us, however this family is used to it.

“We just heard like this big bang and we knew a car had hit the house. It’s something we’ve heard like a bunch of times,” Teresa Bordelon said, resident of the house.

Many Resident Arrested

SHREVEPORT, La. (KALB News Channel 5) A Many resident has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine in Sabine Parish, according to United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley.Cassius L. Medlock, 32, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote, to one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base. Medlock was stopped on August 14, 2014, for speeding and after searching the vehicle, officers observed more than 193 grams of cocaine base and marijuana in the vehicle he was driving. Six children were also present in the vehicle.

Medlock faces five to 40 years in prison, four to five years of supervised release and a $5 million fine. A sentencing date was set for March 5.
